James Tracy loves his conspiracy theories, harboring doubts about everything from the Kennedy assassination to the Aurora theater shootings. Now the Florida Atlantic University professor has cast his unconvinced (some might say unhinged) eye on Newtown, claiming that not only did the Sandy Hook tragedy not happen as reported, it might not have happened at all. Tracy believes that it could’ve been a performance by “crisis actors” to further a political anti-gun agenda or that the victims might have died in some kind of training exercise. “The public needs more information to assess what took place,” he said. “And when [we] don’t have that, various sorts of ideas can arise.”
